Text Notifications

The below instructions will walk you through setting up default text and other notifications for each appointment made in your Google calendar.

You can adjust your settings at any time and adjust the settings in an individual appointment as you see fit.

Please be aware that while Google does not charge to send a text, your carrier may charge you to receive it.

You can cancel these notifications permanently by following the instructions provided by Google: https://support.google.com/calendar/answer/45351?hl=en

To set up SMS texting reminders:

From your Google Calendar, click the settings gear icon.

Click "Settings."

Enter your mobile phone number (including area code) and click "Send Verification Code."

You will receive a text message of your verification code.

Enter the code into the "Verification code" field and click "Finish setup."

Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

Click the gear icon.

Click "Settings."

Click the "Calendars" tab.

Click "Edit Notifications."

In the below example I used the Event Notification settings to ensure I was reminded of each appointment on my calendar in various ways.
Each of these settings are adjustable, can be removed, and new or additional reminders can be added by clicking "Add Notification."

I will receive an email 1 day prior to the event.
I will receive a SMS text 1 day prior to the event and again 10 minutes prior to the event.
A pop-up reminding me of the event will appear on my computer and/or phone 10 minutes prior to the event as well.

Click "Save."

Click "Back to Calendar."
